DAISIES for summer...

We spent a day in Strasbourg last week.

That was a really hot summer day...

A time to go out with one of my few sleeve less dresses.

Have I ever mentionned that I don't like sleeves less outfits?

I have a complex with my arms... too chubby I think...

But this dress is comfy for hot weather, could look better with a small petticoat but it was darm too hot for wearing one!

That's always a pleasure to come back to the city where Sylvain and I met many years ago...

This era when we were just students seems to be so far and so close at the same time...

it's like if we still live there nothing change in this wonderful city...

But we left it 8 years ago due to a job opportunity...

We sometimes have some regrets about that students' life...

A Must Have for summer is...

 a GORGEOUS new hat!!!

I bought this one on EBay and it's now one of my favorite!!!

Look at those delicate daisies...

and the detail that killed me... small raindrops made of rhinestones!!!!!!!!!!!

One more time this 50's coton dress is quite simple...

 but with those accessories...

a lot of people thought I was going to attend a wedding!

And my handsome husband....

he was wearing a replica of a 50's hawaiian shirt.

I think that this yellow color suits him perfectly!

Finding nice hawaiian shirts is quite difficult... the difference between bad taste ones and gorgeous crazy ones is thin....

He bought this silk one during a trip to Hawaii a few years ago... The brand is AVANTI, you must visit their shop if you go to Honolulu! But sizes for women were really small despite a gorgeous collection I didn't find something that fitted my bust...

Do you have good memories of your life as student?
What are your favorite outfits for hot summer days?

Budget for a VINTAGE WARDROBE

Here are some pictures from last month before hot weather.

So this dress is a recent purchase from EBay.
A classic 50's jersey floral dress...

A lot of people believe that I'm rich to have such a wardrobe....

It's true that I have no special budget for my outfits, but I'm not rich...

We have both a full time job, no children... that's help... but finding vintage bargains are also a part of the pleasure to build a vintage wardrobe!

I have a personnal rule... not spending more than $100 for a dress!

This kind of floral dresses are not the most loved by vintage gals, so they are cheap... $25 for this one!

But those bargains are pretty rare nowadays... I think that vintage clothing prices have increased a lot previous years!

I can easily remember my first Ebay bids 10 years ago... winning 50s New Look coat for $40... 40s varsity sweater for $30... novelty dresses for $25!!!

Those kind of atomic wool men jackets were sold for $30, now it's hard to find them under $100!

Vintage clothes and mainly 50's stuff have become so fashionnable!

I think that since Etsy appeared, prices raised a lot!

I have an Etsy story to share with you.... I was following a 50s simple cotton dress on Etsy for many months... price was $160... quite high for a cotton dress... and the dress was still not sold so I choose to contact the seller and proposed what I though a good offer for this kind of dresses: $90+shipping for it.... I received a really nasty answer claiming that I had no respect!

Asking indecent prices is also a king of no respect, isn't it?
Cannot believe that some hawaiian dresses are proposed for more than $500... and that people buy them at these crazy prices!!!

My husband think that buying online is too expensive so he prefer to wait and save money for our "vintage trips" to fill out a full suitcase!

It's not rare that he comes back with more than 30 vintage neckties!!!

For me it's quite impossible to stop buying online, I'm an Ebay and Etsy addict!

But I also like to buy cheap stuff from flea markets like this 40's velvet hat for 3 euros!

If you cannot spend hundreds bucks in a vintage dress chose carefully your accessories... A few stunning ones can makes you look like a queen!

This birds brooch was purchased in a vintage shop in Paris for 20 euros... not cheap but I can usually spent a bit more in item that I can buy in real life, you can feel the material, check condition and size for clothing!

If you are looking for vintage inspired stuff like these Miss L Fire shoes, my advice it's to wait for sales as much as possible. Most of my shoes collection was bought on sales with 50% off!

But what is the best part about having a vintage wardrobe is that you don't loose money... if you are carefull with your clothes they are keeping the same value if you want to sell them!!!

Do you prefer Etsy or EBay ?
What is your budget when you buy vintage online ?

Vintage NOVELTY prints

It's becoming harder and harder to write a post lately....

I have a lot of pictures from more than 1 month ago that I want to share....

it's really hard to find motivation... I feel quite guilty.

I think I really need vacation because of busy job and week-ends, I feel so tired...

Hot summer is here with no rain since almost 1 month!
That's even more tiring....

I'm not a fan of this kind of heat waves....

Wearing vintage with such hot weather can be not so comfortable...

But we can finally enjoy a bit more our garden.

So here is my outfit for this hot day....

One word: NOVELTY....

I wore this chicken skirt for the first time on Easter  at VLV 2 years ago.

That's a french 40's skirt and was in poor condition when I found it but I could not let go go such a pattern!!!!

I love vintage novelty patterns but they are so hard to find and often expensive!

I chose to wear another novelty print in my outfit.

I'm fully in love with this romantic 50's blouse!!!

These 50's cateyes sun glasses come from a german flea market.

But what kind of shoes to wear with such busy fabrics???

My last purchase from french Sales of course!!!!

Another Miss L Fire design, so cute with strawberries!!!!

I can tell that I'm really a Miss L Fire's addict....

Here is my collection... I must be crazy...

They have just openned a shop in Hollywood,
I really want to go next year!!!

I really love gardening and I like all that flowers in our backyard.

I also like to wear flowers in my hair when I don't have a hat.

I never go out without anything in my hair... otherwise, I would feel like naked...

It's always more difficult for me to speak about my husband's outfits.

There are less accessories to show for men...

Belt, Watch, sun glasses, shoes, that's all!

White 30's style shoes from Remix....

Shirt and pants vintage from the 50's made a guy handsome!!!

Do you like vintage novelty fabrics?
Will you be soon on vacation? Where will you go?
